Class Descriptions - Ballet Conservatoire Syllabus
Tiny Tots (pre-syllabus work)
A class for the tiniest ballerinas to begin to explore creative movement and musicality while learning ballet class etiquette and how to take direction. Our youngest dancers will feel safe and nurtured while developing foundational skills to prepare them for future levels.
Pre-primary, Primary
Learn the fundamentals of ballet in a creative yet structured class full of imagery and artistic exploration. Our tiny ballerinas will learn barre work and centre practice in an engaging and encouraging environment to develop an understanding of classical ballet in a way that will set them up for future levels.
Preparatory, Level 1
Build on the fundamentals of ballet and begin to understand classical technique and posture. In these levels, students will be encouraged to explore their individual artistry as well as develop a sound basis of technique and correct placement. The discipline and structure of classical ballet is highly valued in this level in order to practice dance safely and create good technical habits for future levels. Students will learn barre work and centre practice as well as classical repertoire for performances and basic stretch and strength exercises to assist in developing their muscle awareness to compliment their classical training.

Pilates
We introduce Pilates in Level 2 as an important tool in aiding development in strength and flexibility to compliment students’ classical training. Pilates will involve an introduction to anatomy and injury prevention, as well as targeted stretch and strength work. This will assist in improving posture and placement which we place a strong emphasis on in these levels. Students will also begin pre-pointe training to strengthen their feet and lower legs to prepare for pointe work in later levels. Classical training will focus on strong technical development and artistic growth. Training includes barre work and centre practice in both syllabus and open classes, as well as classical repertoire for performances.

Pre-pointe & Pointe
Our senior levels have a strong focus on technical and artistic development to prepare students for the demands of the pre-professional industry. Pilates classes include anatomy and injury prevention theory work, as well as targeted stretch & strength body conditioning. This will assist in improving posture and placement which we place a strong emphasis on in these levels. Students will also partake in specially designed pre-pointe and pointe classes for both syllabus work and strength training. Classical training will focus on strong technical development and artistic growth. Training includes barre work and centre practice in both syllabus and open classes, as well as classical repertoire for performances. Students in these levels will have the opportunity to prepare for and attend auditions throughout the year for various esteemed competitions, summer schools and programs.
